President of the United States signed an executive order on crypto-assets

On 9 March 2022, President of the United States signed Executive Order on Ensuring Responsible Development of Digital Assets.

The order is an outline of the government’s strategy, concerning digital assets and related challenges in the area of consumer protection, financial stability, national security, and mitigating climate risks. It calls particular federal bodies to take action aimed at developing appropriate legislative proposals which address these challenges.

The order also points to the need to accelerate research work on central bank digital currency (CBDC), which includes participating in international research in which the United States would play a leading role.
