The OECD Framework for Classifying AI Systems to assess policy challenges and ensure international standards in AI

Artificial intelligence is currently beginning to play a significant role. In many cases, it can make our lives easier or more secure. However, it should be borne in mind that apart from many benefits, AI also entails risks in areas such as human rights and personal safety.

On 22 February 2022, OECD released a user-friendly framework that will enable decision makers to classify different types of AI systems. The framework is supposed to help users classify AI systems by their potential impact on individuals and the planet. The proposed framework is meant to provide the basis for developing a future risk-assessment framework to help with diminishing and mitigating risks.
