Failure of Silicon Valley Bank

The U.S. Federal Reserve Board reported on 13 March that Vice Chair for Supervision Michael S. Barr is leading a review of the supervision and regulation of Silicon Valley Bank in regard to the Bank’s operations. The review is to be published by 1 May 2023.

‘The events surrounding Silicon Valley Bank demand a thorough, transparent, and swift review by the Federal Reserve,’ said Chair Jerome H. Powell.

‘We need to have humility, and conduct a careful and thorough review of how we supervised and regulated this firm, and what we should learn from this experience,’ said Vice Chair Barr.

Chair of the KNF Board Jacek Jastrzębski informed the Polish Press Agency that the ‘failure of Silicon Valley Bank had no direct impact on the Polish financial sector, but is a warning in the context of banks’ exposure to treasury bonds and the mismatch in maturity structure of assets and liabilities.’
