The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) announced the successful completion of an experiment consisting in using central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) for international settlements between financial institutions.
The experiment conducted under Project Jura explored the transfer of euro and Swiss franc CBDCs between French and Swiss commercial banks in a near-real setting, in accordance with current regulatory requirements, using a dedicated DLT platform operated by a private firm.
Project Jura is the outcome of cooperation between the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the Bank of France (BdF), the Swiss National Bank (SNB), and selected private sector firms.
