On 15 June 2023, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the EU’s financial markets regulator and supervisor, published its Data Strategy for 2023–2028.
According to the Strategy, over the next five years, ESMA will take actions to facilitate the use of new data-related technologies. ESMA will focus on reducing the costs of reporting compliance incurred by regulated entities, as well as on enabling the effective use of data both at the EU and the national level.
